Korean Ground Beef

Inspired by the flavours of Korean bulgogi beef, this recipe is a quick and easy meal that is sure to be a crowd pleaser.


US Ingredient Metric
1 lb. lean ground beef 454 g
1/3 cup yellow onion, diced
1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)


  1. In a large, non-stick skillet brown ground beef and onions over medium heat.
  2. While beef continues to cook, in a bowl combine soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, sesame oil, ground ginger, and black pepper.
  3. Add sauce to ground beef in skillet, heating through until thickened.
  4. Serve over fresh white rice and sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.
